The surroundings of Rimini and the secrets of an area waiting to be discovered
The thrill of a trip to the Romagna hinterland
Sometimes it takes very little to spend an original day immersed in history and culture. Here you will find a few samples of places to visit in Rimini and the Romagna hinterland, including medieval villages, mysterious castles, and ancient legends. These places are very easy to reach from Bellaria. Which one intrigues you the most?
Santarcangelo di Romagna
Santarcangelo, just 15 minutes from Bellaria Igea Marina, is a small town in the province of Rimini, of Roman origin and located on the Via Emilia. Piazza Ganganelli, home to the town hall, is the main meeting place in the town and is distinguished by its famous arch dedicated to Pope Clement XIV. The old part of Santarcangelo is located on Colle Giove, which dominates the town.
San Leo
If you are looking for a panoramic view of the Valmarecchia, the Fortress of San Leo is definitely one of the most evocative. Located on an inaccessible rocky spur, it towers majestically over the valley and bears witness to the passage of numerous historical figures such as St. Francis, Dante, and the Count of Cagliostro. The latter, a famous alchemist and esotericist, was imprisoned in San Leo in 1791 and remained there until his death.
San Marino
The Republic of San Marino, the third smallest state in Europe, lies southwest of Rimini at the foot of Mount Titano. Of fundamental tourist interest are the three towers that symbolize the Republic (the Rocca Guaita, the Rocca Cesca, and the Montale), which outline the profile of the city-state on the horizon.
